Water Rails, Spotted Crakes, Reed, Sedge, Cetti's, Willow & Aquatic Warblers, Grey Herons, Mute Swans, House martins, Sand Martins, occasional Bitterns and large numbers of swallows are seen here. 500 plant, 500 insect & 250 bird species have been seen here in the freshwater reedbeds. |

The area is great for walking - the South West Coast Path is just minutes away, and there are many lovely inland walks across the moorland. For birdwatchers, the recently returned chough is a highlight of the area, but there are many other species too.
The mining heritage gives the area a very special appeal, making this a lovely place to spend some time. |
