La Bastide is a 17th century farmstead set in 4.5 hectares of meadows and maquis in the Tarn, an unspoiled area of Southern France lying between Toulouse, Carcassone and Albi.

The Farmhouse (sleeps 8-10), the Grange (sleeps 4-6) and Cottage (sleeps 2-3) are furnished and equipped to a high standard and share a large 12 x 6m pool

The Tarn is rich in birds, butterflies and flora thanks to the absence of industry and large scale farming. A group of birdwatchers staying at La Bastide listed 40 species including hen harriers and many birds of prey; Barn/Tawny/Little owls (tawneys nesting in our barn); Nightingales, Redstarts and many other song-birds; Nightjars, Hoopoes and Woodpeckers. Last year we had a pair of rollers.

Another group listed 106 species of butterfly and 43 of moths, whilst botanists listed 334 species of plants - 50 on our own land, including 10 types of wild orchids.
