Suffolk is one of the best areas in the UK for birdwatching all year round, with a wide variety of habitats producing a long list of species.

The coastal marshes are well known for breeding Bittern, Bearded Tit, Marsh Harrier and Avocet.

The RSPB reserve of Minsmere is perhaps the best known of the wetland reserves, but many other sites invite exploration, including the newly created Hen Reedbeds just outside Southwold.

Heaths along the coast (often adjoining the marshes) hold Wood Lark, Nightjar and Dartford Warbler.

Away from the coasts, the countryside often boasts large and extensive hedgerows and provides excellent walks between attractive villages. Try the St Cross Farm Walks on an award winning farm where good conservation practice goes hand in hand with good farming.

Outney Meadow is a family run camping park in the Waveney Valley countryside within easy walking distance of the historic market town of Bungay ideally situated between the river Waveney on the Norfolk/Suffolk border.

The camping area is grass with some trees for shade and shelter. There are 45 pitches, some with electric hook ups set in eight acres of ground and the park is open all year round. Dogs are welcome at the park but must be kept on a lead and exercised on the signed dog walk.

Outney Meadow is an ideal base to explore East Anglia's coast and towns. Within easy traveling distance is the Suffolk heritage coast, the lower Waveney Valley and the quiet beauty of the North Norfolk coast.

Angel Cottage, an early Victorian terraced cottage in the pretty village of Wenhaston close to the Suffolk Heritage Coast, has views over fields towards Blythburgh and the 'cathedral of the marshes'.

It is within easy reach of Southwold, the National Trust's Dunwich Heath and the RSPB Minsmere Bird Reserve. The village has two pubs both serving food and Woottens, the specialist plant nursery, is also within easy walking distance.

The cottage has recently been completely refurbished to a high standard to provide light, attractive and very comfortable accommodation in Suffolk for two or three people.
