Time to Stare
Wildlife in a corner of Britain
This is one of the nicest wildlife books we have seen recently. Although it features birds extensively, a lot of attention is also given to all types of other wildlife (I particularly like the photograph of an adder). Photographer and writer Ray Armstrong has captured some wonderful scenes from his local patch in Wales and the images are printed on quality paper making it a joy to thumb through this book. Features over 100 photographs, including this Dipper, left. The writing is also enjoyable and you will learn much of interest whatever your level of knowledge.
Special Offer - The RRP of the book is £19.95 but the publishers are making it available to our readers for £17.95 with free postage and packaging. Send cheque made payable to 'Grice Chapman' along with your address to:

A beautifully crafted coffee table book, Angels from the North, is inspired by the thousands of Bewick's and Whooper swans that migrate to WWT's wetlands each winter.
The book delves much deeper into WWT than just its swans. Taylor-Jones turns his lens, with a variety of interesting and contemporary techniques, on ducks, geese, mammals, invertebrates and most notably - people.

Seton Gordon's Scotland : an anthology
Compiled by Hamish Brown
Born in 1886, Seton Gordon was a writer, photographer, naturalist and hill walker. This fascinating compilation of his writings will appeal to anyone interested in the land and wildlife of Scotland. He was the first person to photograph Golden Eagle's at the nest and the book features many of his photographs, often illustrating a world that has dissapeared, eg his photographs and account of the inhabitants of St Kilda which he visited two years before the island was evacuated.
