Road: Off B1229 N of Bempton village.
Admission: Charge (RSPB members free). Open every day
March - Nov. W/E opening at other times, but closed all January.
Facilities: Visitor centre. Clifftop paths with observation
points and guided walks.

Features: Excellent views of breeding seabirds. Only
Gannet colony on English mainland. Also Puffin (illustrated),
Guillemot, Razorbill, Fulmar and Kittiwake. Tree Sparrows
often around visitor centre.

Features: Combination of open water, marsh and woods
provide habitat for a wide range of birds. Marsh Harrier, Little
Ringed Plover and Grasshopper Warbler (illustrated)
in summer, Bittern in winter and resident Woodcock. Full bird

Location: SE 442 402 - Dearne Valley, South Yorkshire.
Road: From M1, J36, then A6195 or from A1, J37, A636
then A6195. Brown tourist signs off all major routes.
Facilities: Disabled acces paths and hides, car park,
toilets, visitor centre with exhibitions and souvenir shop.
Pets paddock (Apr - Sept), picnic area. Guided walks, school
visits (education pack available for teachers).

Features: Opened in 1998, the centre incorporates the
former Yorkshire Wildlife Trust Wath Ings reserve and provides
an exciting day out for those interested in the environment.
The site offers a variety of habitats with lakes and flood
meadows, wader scrape and reedbeds. There is an excellent
bird species range including breeding and migrant waders and
wildfowl which can be viewed through five superb, easily accessible,
hides. There is a winter feeding programme which attracts
large numbers of birds close to the hides providing excellent
